For anyone in the mood for a wild story about fate and love, the strangest thing just happened in our home.
I’m doing a virtual event at Politics & Prose for my book tonight.

And my mom just remembered that 20 years ago, I wrote a glowing piece about Politics & Prose for my high school newspaper.
I’m staying with my parents for the pandemic. They’re helping with the baby. And my mom is a scrupulous archivist of my childhood. So we found a copy of the story. Here it is:

Someone named Zach Carter has written a scathing review of a Cure album.
I did not know @zachdcarter at the time. But I do now.
He is my husband. And we just published books on the same day this week, twenty years after his first byline, in tjTODAY, our high school newspaper.
