Someone broke into my garage and stole my car and I didn’t know since I haven’t been driving.
They found it at the side of the highway with a brick through the window, a meth pipe in the storage console, and a leaf blower in the trunk. Not really clear how they started the car, I thought I lost my 2nd key. Maybe it was under a floor mat...

Police are saying they will keep the meth pipe. They believed me when I said it wasn’t mine. There was a high school football ring for the class of ‘87 in the door ashtray so that might have helped.
The car has been cleared out of my junk, taken to a car wash, leather cleaned, new registration sticker applied, new license plates.
I guess that meth stuff really works.

What they didn’t realize is I glued a @tileapp tracker to the car a few months ago. And it pinged off someone’s phone a few days ago. And the police have the address it was parked at.
Also they put a new bumper sticker on the car.

Car thieves know how to disable the location tracker electronics in cars. They can use GPS jammers.
But a Bluetooth tag... that sends out pings for two years to a collective hive of phones... you can’t defeat that. You can’t even find it without an electronic signal sweep...

Anyway, defense in depth is good
Police took the leaf blower
I know I write fiction and joke threads, I wish it was a joke...
Somebody stole the car and made it their new daily driver.
Then it was abandoned on highway.
Somebody else later threw a brick into the passenger side window but failed, so they broke the windshield instead.

Real collection of winning humans. Like, I don’t even really mind that much they borrowed the car even though it’s a pain. I got it back. Somebody else decided to destroy it for fun.

Tactics:
- They covered VIN on dash with a kohl’s tag
- License plate replaced with an unreported stolen one, another grey Honda in same generation
- Added registration sticker (mine was expired)
- New bumper sticker on rear
- Everything in the car tossed
- Threw away my CDs

Update: I realized they put air in my tires, because the dash light is off now.
They were definitely planning on keeping it
