*Heavy Sigh* This chucklehead, Couy Griffin is from the town I was born in and grew up in. I know folks in his family. This is my roots. This is the kind of nonsense I left. 1/ https://twitter.com/kathsstewart/status/1263181908332216322
While this may seem on the surface as "small town politics" this has wider reaching implications. Couy Griffin is more than just a County Commissioner. He's one of many Evangelical threats to the United States. @C_Stroop might be interested in this. 2/
Before becoming a County Commissioner, Couy Griffin was a pastor at New Heart Cowboy Church in Alamogordo. Cowboy churches is a melding of the Evangelical church and Cowboy Culture. Its' like "Gospel Bill" for grown ups. 3/

While I didn't grow up in his church, most of the Evangelical churches in my hometown share the same belief that democrats are evil. This isn't an uncommon belief in the Evangelical church 5/
What makes Griffin so different? He founded a group called "Cowboys for Trump." The group believes "securing our border, protecting our second Amendment, and protecting the lives of the unborn are the most vital and key aspects in Americas Greatness." 6/

They've ridden horses all the way to Washington and hold rallies. Griffin has met with Trump in the Oval Office and ridden in Trump's motorcade. Some may see Griffin as a goofy redneck from the backwoods, Trump doesn't. He sees him as someone who will help him maintain power 7/
This formal small town pastor turned county commissioner has the ear of the president. They've spoken at least three times. Here is a prime example of how tightly Evangelicals have the ear of the president. 8/
The people in Griffin's group are people that I've ridden horses with, camped with, fished with. I learned to drive on the road his church is on. They'll vote for Trump and his ilk every time and keep the conservative stranglehold on America firm. 9/
Beware writing off small town Evangelicals like Griffin. They hold more influence than you know at the local, state and national levels. If you can, campaign against them, or run for office locally to oppose them. 10/
Keep exposing these folks. Don't let an extremist small town church have direct influence on the nation as a whole. Listen to the #Exvangelical community, and #EmptyThePews
