ive been thinking about this especially bc my org has been working to help workers from the PH that have been abandoned by their agencies in the midst of covid-19, and understanding that many of their parents were also funneled into this industry of imported labor https://twitter.com/irene_koo/status/1263476833133232129">https://twitter.com/irene_koo...
the biggest industry in the PH is exported labor— labor that countries like the US, Canada, UAE thrive off of— bc the govt’s refusal to care for its people forces ppl into the hands of these work-placement agencies and consequently overseas
not trying to ~cancel anyone LOL but in this situation im much more inclined to want to put time and effort into hearing from migrant workers vs from the ppl who placed them in exploitative jobs in the first place
anyway if you want to help young workers from the Philippines who are struggling to navigate this exact situation rn please check out the J-1 Network!! esp if you are a Filipino/Tagalog speaker but there are different ways to help https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🌸" title="Cherry blossom" aria-label="Emoji: Cherry blossom"> https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc1lMePqx4fWv6xhU3StXvpDnGG6cJalfWKMSR57U4Gu8gN3Q/viewform">https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e...
