Now that we have some scheduled dates for council by-elections again - albeit those may still change depending on the pandemic situation in autumn - I'm gradually going to thread details for each here.

Full list of upcoming by-elections here: http://ballotbox.scot/councils
Livingston South, due on the 1st of October. In 2017 SNP lead in first prefs, but Labour would have won in a single councillor contest. Probably going to be tight between the two of them when transfers are considered! https://twitter.com/BallotBoxScot/status/1263482519477006336
Also on the 1st of October is Ellon and District. Conservatives did so well here in 2017 they actually missed out on a seat for lack of a second candidate. They go into this with strongest chance of winning, and may therefore "correct" the 2017 result. https://twitter.com/BallotBoxScot/status/1263494640407384066
Leaderdale and Melrose in the Borders is up on the 29th of October. Re-calculating this one had some of the interesting STV chaos you get doing that for anywhere with strong Independents. It'll either be Conservatives or a solid local Independent. https://twitter.com/BallotBoxScot/status/1264252572157779970
Highland's Aird and Loch Ness ward is due on 5th of November. This is classical Highlands, with two Independent councillors who've been consistently re-elected. Without them, Con edged out SNP in party terms in 2017, but BE could see some wildcards! https://twitter.com/BallotBoxScot/status/1264550686706020354
Kincorth/Nigg/Cove is also on the 5th of November. This follows Stephen Flynn's election as SNP MP for Aberdeen South in December. Compared to some complex STV situations in earlier bits of this thread, this one is quite neat and very likely to go SNP. https://twitter.com/BallotBoxScot/status/1264553509204172803
