It's worth pointing out that over half of university students in the UK don't move away from home to go to Uni. They stay at home and commute to their place of learning. All these conversations about the loss of the 'Uni experience' are framed from a very particular perspective
- Predominantly a middle-class, leave home, go to a Russell Group university, drink a lot, study a little bit (but that's only a tiny part of it) experience. Whilst there's a lot to be said for this experience, this isn't the case for the majority of students these days.
This context is important when we envisage what the university experience might look like in the future.
