It& #39;s worth pointing out that over half of university students in the UK don& #39;t move away from home to go to Uni. They stay at home and commute to their place of learning. All these conversations about the loss of the & #39;Uni experience& #39; are framed from a very particular perspective
- Predominantly a middle-class, leave home, go to a Russell Group university, drink a lot, study a little bit (but that& #39;s only a tiny part of it) experience. Whilst there& #39;s a lot to be said for this experience, this isn& #39;t the case for the majority of students these days.
This context is important when we envisage what the university experience might look like in the future.
