April 2018-April 2019: Stormzy took a social media hiatus to what people assume to focus on his second album which is now named “Heavy is the Head”.
April 25th 2019: Stormzy Returned to social media with a clip of a fan voice messaging him to release some new music which is now famously used as the intro to “Big Michael”.
April 25th 2019: Stormzy back from his hiatus, released “Vossi Bop” and the music video for the single as well. This song broke UK twitter.
The song is also 2x Platinum in the UK with 1.2 million units/sales. This DEFINITELY shows stormzy is one of the best when it comes to hit makers.
June 21st 2019: Stormzy Releases “Crown” the 2nd single of his 5 before the album release.
In the song, stormzy mentions the name of the album, but many fans thought the album was called “Crown”. But in a tweet stormzy confirms it’s not called “Crown”.
(I can’t remember if he said “Heavy is the Head” is the name of the album in the tweet as he’s deleted his account so I can’t find the tweet)
June 28th 2019: Stormzy Headlines the main stage at Glastonbury on the Friday of the 5 day festival. Stormzy Sets Records by becoming the first Black British solo artist to headline the main stage at the prestigious Glastonbury festival.
The Set Featured Coldplay’s Chris Martin to perform the beautiful song “Blinded By Your Grace, Pt. 1” and Dave and Fredo to perform their collaborative hit single “Funky Friday”. This whole set is iconic even though it happened a year ago.
Stormzy at the start of his set is seen in a bullet proof vest with the union flag painted on, stormzy then found out after the set that this vest was made by “Banksy” the anonymous Grafitti artist which paints controversial Grafitti all around the world but mainly in London.
September 6th 2019: After speculation that Maya Jama and Heavy Weight boxer “Anthony Joshua” were together after Maya Jama and stormzy broke up, stormzy posted this photo on Instagram. This looked like a reply to Anthony Joshua or something like that. (But it wasn’t)
September 15th 2019: Stormzy releases a single called “Wiley Flow” which is a homage to the “godfather of grime”. The songs includes stormzy using Wiley’s flows from two songs “Night bus Dub plate” and “Bad Em’ Up”.
November 7th 2019: Stormzy announces at a show in Thorpe park that earlier that morning he finished the album.
November 18th 2019: “h.i.t.h” is projected onto the Shoreditch High Street underground station and on St Paul’s Cathedral. This meant that the album release was not far away.
November 19th 2019: Stormzy announces the album cover and track list for his sophomore album. The album cover features the bullet proof vest stormzy (designed by “Banksy”) wore at Glastonbury earlier that year.
November 22nd 2019: Stormzy Releases his now hit single “Own it” which features Burna Boy and Ed Sheeran. The song hit No.1 in January which makes it stormzy’s third No.1 and second No.1 in 2019 after the release of “Vossi Bop”.
December 11th 2019: Stormzy Releases the final single before his album release “Audacity” which features up and coming drill x grime rapper “Headie One”
December 13th: Stormzy Releases His 2nd album “Heavy is the Head”. The album is now certified Gold in the UK and received an average score of 82/100 from 17 professional mainstream critics.
February 18th 2020: Stormzy at the brits awards 2020 performing “Wiley Flow”. This performance was very energetic and near iconic.
Stormzy’s 2019 shows that he is one of the few GOATS in the UK.
