students are demanding refunds and acting like "customers" because significant parts of the education sector have insisted on treating education like a business and students as "customers" for YEARS now
students think "online education" is inferior to "face to face" (which used to mean together in a physical space) because some people insist on shitting on online education instead of recognizing that teaching requires expertise online and off
stop being surprised that students and other people parrot the shitty takes that some people in leadership/though leadership have been spouting about education and how it's "supposed" to work and look.
the push to "reopen" physical campuses ignores all the labor that goes into teaching and learning that doesn't have to happen in physical spaces, and the ways that engagement can happen online in the quest to SAVE LIVES from a PANDEMIC because of these aformentioned shitty takes
CAMPUSES ARE OPEN because campuses are more than buildings they are people they are networks they are expertise they are thoughts and conversations. Fetishizing the physical campus right now is going to kill more people.
and I will say again it's gonna be real fucking hard to get your "customers" back to campus if they are dead. Not to mention hard for them to have a quality campus experience when faculty and staff are dead.
there is a business to running education that should not be mistaken for treating educational institutions/orgs like businesses.
them and many others. Do you think you are scoring points here? I don't work there anymore, and even when I did I wasn't in charge of the ways UNCC framed itself.
