There's a false narrative propagated in seminary to men going into public ministry that women will forever be attempting to seduce them.

Statistics show the opposite. Men in power use their power to seduce/abuse women.

But the Christian community largely believes the falsehood
In case someone wants to argue this point: I heard this in seminary. I heard it from students and leaders in other seminaries.

It is normal fare - and incredibly harmful - b/c it creates the illusion that a man's "fall" is entirely the fault of others.
The concern in this "caution" was always about keeping yourself from "losing your ministry," which is another way to say "protecting your reputation & power."

At least my alma mater was consistent enough to consider sexual sin/abuse to be disqualifying. I commend them for that.
I'm getting replies accusing me of placing all the blame on men... This strong reaction is telling.

My initial tweet is basically saying male pastors should not view women as sex objects.

Those reacting against this are exposing themselves.
