Ok Miami Vice thread so I don’t annoy people
This is my first time doing a proper watch of Miami Vice, though I’ve seen a few eps in the past. Surprisingly not the ones with Dean Stockwell, so I look forward to those!
My first exposure to Philip Michael Thomas, however, was the absolutely tremendous ExtraLarge series where he teams up with the very Italian Bud Spencer. Thomas is the comic relief, which means he does accents badly
Oh I see the accent thing is bc that’s what he did with his Miami Vice undercover stuff lol
Crockett just keeps an alligator named Elvis on his houseboat this show rules
did this even happen
Just got to the iconic In the Air Tonight scene and I am LIVINGGGGG
Having seen a handful of Miami Vice eps now I can safely say they were the master of hilariously abrupt endings.
Including the random eps I’ve seen before this watch, here are all events that have immediately preceded a freeze frame and end credits:
-“Wow crazy stuff, I’m glad that corrupt cop is gonna make things right.” “Hey guys guess who hung himself”
-bad guy Bruce Willis gets off, is gunned down on the court steps
-car chase ends in a horrific crash into a wall
“We’re too cool for denouements.”
This show has been satisfyingly brutal when it needs to be so this makes me even more pumped to see how they got the point where there’s an ep about UFOs
This is one of the greatest episode endings of all time
(Forgive the cut near the end, the NBC app decided to foolishly put ads right in the middle of this masterpiece)
I think I like Crockett’s fashion the best but Tubbs is cooler
I get the feeling Tubbs falls hard and fast when it comes to romance, but Crockett is still hung up on his ex-wife and finds it difficult to open up to real love
I’M GONNA NEED EVERYONE’S OUTFIT IN THIS SCENE
