Hey y’all. I know we’re tired, we’re stressed, and to be frank, we’re traumatized. I mean that. There is real trauma in having our lives so disrupted, so unstable, and without the same level of access to the people we usually rely on for support. I want you to know I see that.
I see you. Your feelings of exhaustion, anxiety, uncertainty, sadness, grief, depression, failure—whatever you’re going through—those feelings are real. But we cannot take it out on each other. There’s no reason to pile onto each other when we could be bearing the load together.
So let’s be kind. Let’s rethink that snarky remark, that insensitive tweet. Let’s remember that, in the long run, the momentary satisfaction that comes from feeling angry and powerful doesn’t heal the underlying stress or sadness. If you’ll help me remember this, I’ll help you.
Because we deserve kindness. We deserve empathy. But empathy is (to quote a good guy) contagious. https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😉" title="Winking face" aria-label="Emoji: Winking face">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="☺️" title="Smiling face" aria-label="Emoji: Smiling face">It’s not a pie with a finite number of slices, a zero sum game. The more you give it, the more you’ll get it. Let’s bake more pie friends!
