never in my life have i had any police encounters til I got to PV iykyk

1) One night I had just left the cab office to go get some food off campus. I’m driving down lw minor towards the stop sign in front of the library. In my rear view mirror I see this car start tailgating me bad (stg) Im anxious this car finna hit me so i roll through the sign

1.2) cop lights turn on, i pull over. He asks me why i didn’t stop and I told him why. he takes my id and runs my plates, then goes back to his car for at least 15 minutes, he drives off & another car pulls up w/ a new cop who runs my plates again just to give me a warning..

2) During midterms week i was about to take a test in new science and as I cross through the UC, Cop cars legit pull up on all sides of me on the sidewalk and they all jump out their car. (i have my airpods in and a black hoodie on so this caught me way off guard)

2.1) They start asking me hella questions about where i’m coming from, why i’m walking this way, ask for my student and regular id. stop and frisk me in front of my boys building and have me held up for at least 10 minutes with no explanation and let me go (chief was also there)

2.2) That was probably the most humiliating feeling especially bc it was in front of my boys. I didn’t have time to process what happened bc now i’m late for my midterm but it all hit me when i got to that test. Was having a rough month and that was the cherry on top

2.3) nxt day i’m eating brkfast in the msc & i see the cop that frisked me, he’s w/ another cop & jokingly tells him “this the one I was telling you about who’s eyes were big ahaha no hard feelings bro you matched the description of the guy we were looking for wearing all black”

This is the first time I was hearing a reason as to why i was pulled up on, stopped and frisked

Now mind you i know all of these officers bc they work all of our events and I have to meet with them often chief included but in these instances it felt like i was being treated like someone they didn’t know, not the student leader they see 24/7

3) Last yr a group of us were in the cab office after hrs (like we always were since we have access) but one day these officers come into the office, take everyone’s id & are telling us all that we aren’t supposed to be there & we needed to leave (even after saying who we were)

3.1) in the midst of all this i start texting one of my sga friends who’s next door in their office telling them that they’re trying to kick us out. all it took was for them to come over and say who they were for the officers to leave us alone..

After that day I promised myself i was gonna make cab’s name hold the same weight as sga when it came to staff and upd... all in all i’ve seen upd be cool sometimes but i’ve also felt harassed by them. that time during midterms still doesn’t sit right with me
