Watching Lord of the Rings for the first time in a really long time and realizing that I haven’t watched any of these movies in like 10 years bc I am immediately reminded of how cringe I was when I was at the height of LOTR popularity. How cringe, you ask? (A thread.)
So cringe, I listened to the soundtracks on my personal CD player on the bus and I’m sure the other 13 year olds thought I was SO COOL for blasting that hot Enya track on repeat. (Can you believe no one wanted to sit with me? lol)
So cringe, I spent h o u r s on the internet finding and downloading pictures of the cast, organizing them into folders on the desktop which I customized with their faces as icons, and printing them out to decorate my planner, and getting in trouble for using up all the toner.
So cringe, I started working through several courses to learn Elvish, complete with vocabulary flash cards I made myself and studied in study hall. Sindarin, obviously, bc it’s the people’s language, I’m no high-falutin learning Quenya.
So cringe, I wrote a 94-page fan fic where I was, you guessed it, the main character, involved in a love triangle with Legolas and a character of my own creation who was literally just Orlando Bloom. So yes, two Orlando Blooms couldn’t get enough of eighth-grade Erin. Y I K E S.
And yes, so cringe, I wrote said fan fiction to an Evanescence album on repeat even though that particular album came out like four years earlier. “My Immortal” really brings on the FEELS when you’re writing yet another tearful fainting scene bc you couldn’t write transitions
I could go on. IDK, I guess the point is I’ve always been deeply uncool, and tricked y’all into thinking I’m not (or loving me despite it). 🤡
