Before 2017 I wasn’t very practicing at all, but after that was when I sort of “rediscovered” Islam. Back then my imaan surged like never before and as much as I try I can’t seem to feel that level of imaan again. Around this time, my grandfather gifted me a bottle of oud/aththar
-and I wore it before I prayed and recited. Fast forward to now, even though my spirituality isn’t as high as it was then, whenever I wear that oud I feel just a little closer to Allah. Maybe because I associate the smell with praying and quran🥰
Also, yes, I'd love to feel that surge in imaan again, and for a long time I was sad that I wasn't feeling it anymore and that it was becoming a struggle to maintain ibaadah. But I watched a clip of one of @YasminMogahed 's talks where
She said it's Allah we're chasing and it's Allah we're worshipping, not the spiritual high, so we have to keep pushing to please Allah even if we don't "feel it" as much as we used to. And that really helped me🥰
