I don’t even want to watch this LGR video because it’s kind of depressing. The IBM PCjr was not really capable of running the later Sierra adventure games. Exploring the Sierra On-Line "Super-Junior" Computer via @YouTube
The PCjr could have been a contender if IBM had been a little more forward-thinking and included an 80286 and 512K or more of RAM. Also, a proper keyboard instead of the “chiclet keyboard” that everyone hated. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBM_PCjr
The Intel 80286 (“286”) was launched in Feb. 1982, and IBM used it in the PC/AT that they also released in 1984. I can see why they didn’t want to make the PCjr “too powerful”, but that was exactly the wrong attitude considering how much software needed every K of RAM & cycle.
There’s a little bit of the IBM DNA in the Lenovo PC I bought this year, and have been upgrading with new parts since. My 1TB SSD is on its way from Louisville, KY, by UPS Ground, and should be here on Friday. Then I’ll be able to truly crush *all the workloads*, including DB.
