The left is what I have to protect myself while I’m out in #FL24 working with those who have been abandoned on our streets

This includes scrubbing portapotties that have been turned into showers, after each use

The pic on the right is what the “professionals” get for protection

This is where I stood for almost 2 hours, screaming as the police arrested a man David for simply living here.

They spent an hour searching his stuff for a reason to hold him. Thanks to the reversal of the Pottinger Agreement, this treatment of the houseless is legal again

The day they arrested David was the day after they did this

Do you know how much effort it took, how many people, how much money, to collect & physically distribute all of these tents? They just destroyed them

This is Cupcake and her 10yr old daughter Cherish. I found them at a bus stop. They had been living in a storage unit.

Someone from @LotusHouse1 was around and told them to come there, that they would take care of them. I dropped them off myself.

A week later, still waiting

This is Karen. The bravest woman I’ve ever met. She fought for David with me

She has been experiencing homelessness for years. She’s a veteran. A nurse. A lawyer.

She also suffers physical ailments. Her legs are completely swollen. She has only one kidney and a fractured hip.

Last night I just couldn’t take it anymore and spent $300 that I do not have, to put her in a hotel and get her off the streets for a few days.

I HATE publicizing these things!!! But I HAVE TO because people don’t know how BAD IT IS HERE IN MIAMI FOR THE POOR!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m grateful that I’m not alone. That my team cares just as much as I do. That they’re so brave, too.

Behind Angel, you can see the Orange portapotties turned showers. We clean them with disinfectant spray and a sponge mop.

Rain or shine, my team shows up to help serve our community and for that I am so proud.

But it should not be like this. We should not have to risk our health during a pandemic to do what our leaders will not.

This is blatant negligence, and we are coming for EVERYONE INVOLVED.
