I have been an advocate for Scottish Independence from a young age.
Which came from my father, who was a proud soldier in the British Army served in the Black Watch.
He was a proud protestant and supported Glasgow Rangers all his life.
he loved the football and the rivalry.
however he hated the fact that religion drove the division between the teams. he taught me about the advantages of supporting a side and being part of a group that followed a team not a belief!!!
he told me that there are many religions
and that people believed what they chose as their God and that you should not make anyone change either by force or by influencing them by other means. Just because you don't believe!!
my auld fella served in Northern Island defending British rule against a nation that wanted Independence. He felt conflicted and hated serving there however he said and this was his words " I joined the army to defend the nation against tyrants and dictators"
he was sent there with his comrades, young men who had trained with him and served with him for the same reason. He felt duty bound to fight with his comrades. however after serving 12 years in the army he felt that in the times he spent in N/I he was torn.
why????
He from a young age also felt that Scotland should be an independent nation.
he told me a long time ago that if Scotland had to defend or fight for its independence he would be first in line to take to arms. even whilst serving in the British Army
