Not many of you know this, but 2 years ago I adopted an un-releasable eastern box turtle from the NC state turtle team, & last May he unfortunately escaped a temporary outdoor enclosure. I was absolutely devastated I lost him. It was part of why 2019 sucked so much for me.

WELLLLLL guess who literally showed up back up on MY PORCH! MY TURTLE! He survived the winter & not only that but he came BACK! (I mean I know they have a very small range but he had been in captivity for YEARS)

I am so happy he came back. I know this is major anthropomorphizing on my part, but I feel like he came back bc he needed it. He was dehydrated & he’s underweight & has some minor shell rot going on. I made an apt with the turtle team to get him checked out & get some antibiotics

but I am so so so relieved he’s back and under my care again. He’s eaten a lot, taken some long soaks in his tub, and seems to be settled right back into his tank. I’m so glad I kept everything for him so I was able to set it right back up for him.
