Another remarkable fact about this mismanaged epidemic. Your personal doctor, your GP, is not able to order a test or home test for you. You have to go yourself through 111 or a website.
We have 61,000 GPs in this country. They are the backbone of our NHS. They know you, support you, can do your blood + swab tests, monitor you, refer you, notify public health about you. But they can't get a COVID test done in a pandemic because Deloitte have been given a contract
And naturally results are not sent to GPs, and lots of results go missing or arrive days later. Why have we set up a parallel service? Why contact tracing from call centres rather than locally linked to GPs and public health?
If we lift lockdown when we have only 5000 cases nationally each day, a GP wd see one case every 12 days on average. They could handle cases, organise tests, link with local contact tracers and with local public health. Ditto care homes. The NHS. We don't need a parallel service.
