Over 90,000 Americans are dead.
That's 90,000 people who were alive 3 months ago who no longer exist.
90,000 people with hopes, dreams, memories, and souls who vanished from the earth.
90,000 Americans who will be missing at birthdays, thanksgivings, Christmas, & New Years.

Of course, we can't have a national day of mourning because people are STILL DYING.
The GOP tells us we must accept the deaths of over 90,000 Americans and risk the deaths of another hundred thousand or more b/c anything else is inconvenient.

I get it. The economic impact is horrific. But we aren't having the discussions about how to save the economy AND human life.
We just decided we can't have both so the economy will win. It's not the only model and yet those are the false choices Americans have been offered.

I don't accept those choices.
I am not willing to sacrifice my parents, godparents, my immuno-compromised friends, family, and colleagues.
I am horrified by the way people have just sort of accepted this. They just slid into it.

I live in Boston w/a whole lot of smart folks- and yet somehow both Boston College and Northeastern have announced they'll be on the ground in the fall.
The logic of reopening has taken over- and the academy- which is supposed to value science, has resorted to magical thinking

No thought about students, faculty, and staff who are at greater risk.
No thought about the risk this will pose to the broader community when sick college students take public transportation.
Just the momentum of the open the economy train of thought.
