thinking about our 2017 japan trip and magical mirai and what an incredible and truly ~*magical*~ experience it was
see, usually i'm the kind of fandom person who, when i fall for a thing, i typically love it for the rest of my life (with very few exceptions)
however i tend to have my on and off periods... i'll be into X for a year, then drift away for a bit, come back 2 years later... and so on -- or just be lowkey into things, permanently, but with little moments of extreme hype scattered about
but vocaloid is something i have been into practically nonstop since 2009... i don't think i've ever experienced something like this with any other fandom???
my interest has never waned and idk if it ever will, the community would really need to disappear and contrary to what many say, that feels less and less likely every day
i love this community because of what it is and how it works... the ability for everyone to contribute and breath life into something we all collectively enjoy
i love the music, the characters, the events, the art, the videos... i love how there's always something for everyone here
i will always treasure all the incredible experiences i've had thanks to this shared interest... and genuinely, most of all, i will always loved all the connections and friendships this has brought into my life
so many friends who have been here from the start or who i've only met recently, but who i know are here to stay even if our interests change
the other day i saw a thread about someone asking "have you ever met someone from twitter irl" and.... lol, looks at so many of you! and so many of you that i still want to meet in person and who i know i will!!!
no matter what happens, i don't think anything will ever compare to the experience of having been here, having been able to contribute and share with so many wonderful people
sometimes i think back on my first introduction to miku (ievan polkka ofc) and how i didn't understand much of what i saw beyond "leekspin lol"
and then the moment i started downloading some of "her" songs via soulseek and then, *then*, learning what miku actually was and venturing into nnd
i remember telling ankari about it and ankari also getting into it and deciding she would try and use it! just to see!
