/7 We are nearing completion of Phase 0 of our @UHN lab research restart plan. Thanks to @gzheng74 and the entire research committee for their work. Following TAHSN guidelines with safety as our first priority.
/7 Physical distancing plans, space maps, roles and responsibilities, training, masking policy, PPE availability, hand sanitizing stations, screening plans in space.
/7 We will have a phased approach with an initial density (Phase 1) for all labs at a maximum of 25% of normal. We will run extended hours, with 2 shifts per day, 6 days per week. All labs must have approved plans for space, shifts and are cohorting groups to the extent possible
/7 Our facilities teams are managing all common spaces and are establishing cleaning protocols between shifts and at end of day. All work areas have floor safety managers with facility huddles. A process to audit labs will be in place to facilitate compliance.
/7 Working on research protocols for offering virus and/or immunity testing platforms for staff. Also working on approaches to track/assess physical distancing. Advancing to higher density (phase 2) will be done when it is safe to do so.
/7 Our clinical research subcommittee is also busy preparing for expansion of clinical trials and clinical research. This will be done in lock-step with the hospital and the restart of other elective care.
/7 All researchers are encouraged and expected to continue to do as much work remotely as possible. Only those who need to be on site should be here. Lab meetings, data analysis, etc will be done remotely for the foreseeable future.
