If the NFL needed to adjust the start date, I've seen the following plan proposed:

- wk 1 becomes wk 18
- wk 2 game slots into prior bye wk
- wk 3 & 4 are cancelled

Start date shifts back 1 month & season is 14 wks long.

This absolutely benefits some teams more & hurts others.

If weeks 3 & 4 of the NFL season are cancelled to push the start date back a month, here is how it impacts the league's schedules:

The 5 teams that benefit the most:

1. KC
2. WAS
3. NE
4. TEN
5. NYG

The 5 teams that are hurt the most:

1. JAX
2. ARI
3. CIN
4. MIA
5. LAR

The Chiefs would no longer have to play in Baltimore on Monday night nor host the Patriots.

The Redskins would no longer face the Browns & Ravens.

On the other end the Jaguars would lose their two easiest opponents (Bengals & Dolphins).

Arizona would lose the Lions & Panthers.
