Daytona - The beef reignited when Daytona, Pusha’s latest album, that was produced entirely by Kanye West, was released. Prior to the release of the album, controversy was spread due to the cover being a photograph of Whitney Houston’s drug infested bathroom.
Infrared - On the album's closing track, "Infrared," Pusha questioned Drake's lyrical abilities, referring to Quentin Miller, a rapper who was exposed for potentially being Drake’s Ghostwriter. Pusha wpuld also question Drake’s credibility within hip hop due to the ghostwriting.
Duppy Freestyle - Drake would then swiftly reply with a diss track aimed towards Pusha T and Kanye entitled ‘Duppy Freestyle’.
In this diss, Drake took shots at Ye, pointing out how he has written for him on various of his tracks. Drake would also question Pusha’s credibility referring to his street life he raps about, and compare his career to a faded signature on a microphone.
Drake would conclude the diss asking Ye for money for giving Pusha clout for his album. Following the track’s release, Drake would post this onto his Instagram, asking Ye and Pusha’s label for $100,000 for ‘Promotional assistance and career reviving’.
The Story of Adidon - Then, Pusha would viciously clap back at Drake with the savage diss track entitled ‘The Story of Adidon. The cover featured a picture of Drake wearing black face paint, which sparked controversy, and the song itself utilised Jay Z’s ‘The Story of OJ’ beat.
Pusha held nothing back in the diss back at Drake. Within it, he exposed Drake for having a child named Adonis, and for being a deadbeat to him. Pusha also accused Drake of hiding this fact, to potentially use him for an Adidas press run.
Pusha also outed Adonis’ mother to be a pornstar and also seemed angered by Drake not solely aiming his diss solely at him. Pusha also went for one of Drake’s best friend’s and producer OVO 40, referring to his MS, and suggesting his life will end soon due to the disease.
Who Told Pusha about Adonis? - Rumours spread across the internet and people assumed that Kanye was the one who told Pusha about Drake’s son. However, during an interview with Joe Budden, Pusha confirmed it was OVO 40 who let slip the info to a woman he was sleeping with.
Joe Budden Interview - Within this interview, Pusha explains a lot regarding the beef, here’s a link to watch it on YouTube.
During a concert in Toronto on his Daytona Tour, the concert was haulted when people suggested to be paid by Drake, threw objects at Pusha from the crowd, causing the show to be paused.
Then, in true Pusha T style, he came straight back out and performed the song that reset the fuse to the beef - Infrared.
Rap Radar - In an Interview with Tidal on Rap Radar, Drake came out and publically said he has zero intentions of mending the relationship with Pusha, and accepted he lost the battle with Pusha’s diss track being to shocking for Drake to match in a reply.
Overall, in my opinion this beef was one of hip hop’s best moments of the last decade. Pusha bodied Drake, and Drake had no way of topping The Story of Adidon. Thank you for reading and I hope you all enjoyed
