Here’s a thread of sexual assault statistics in the United States.
Over 60% of all black women experience some sort of sexual abuse before they turn 18. 40-60% of black women were also coerced into sexual acts before turning 18.
Out of the entire world population of rape and sexual assault survivors, black women make 30% of all cases.
College aged women (between the ages of 18-24) are 3 times more likely to be assaulted on a college campus than any other woman. Women who are not in college are actually 4 times more likely to be assaulted.
For every black woman who has reported any form of rape or sexual assault, there are 15 who have not reported it.
1 in every 5 black women are the survivors of rape.
40% of confirmed sex trafficking survivors are black women.
38% of black women have experienced other sexual violences, including in domestic relationships, in their lifetime.
Black girls from the ages of 12 and up are most likely to experience some type of sexual assault over any other demographic.
30% of Black women with documented histories of childhood sexual abuse were sexually assaulted in adulthood.
The black community, due to the long going history of sexist victimization and abuse, had the hardest time dealing with any type of sexual abuse.
Over 20 million women have been victims of an attempted or completed rape.
94% of all rape and sexual assault victims have PTSD within the first two weeks of the assault. 30% experience PTSD after 9 months.
Sexual assault victims are 3.4 times more likely to start smoking weed, 6 times more likely to use cocaine, and 10 times more likely to become dependent and addicted to any other major drug.
84% of victims have been victimized by a partner, 79% by a partner, and 67% by strangers. This causes them to have problems with school, work emotional issues and become distressed easily.
About 40% of black trans women experience sexual assault and are 6 times more likely to experience violence in general than their white counterparts.
Excuse me. 56% of trans women and non-binary people have experienced sexual assault in their lifetime.
Only 2% of rape reported were actually false allegations. For those who love to question victims.
8 out of 10 assaults are by someone the victim knows.
Over half rapists and sexual assault perpetrators are immediately released and majority are arrested and prosecuted for a crime that doesn’t relate to the assault.
Now you may do what you will with this information. But i created this thread to inform people who may not know about the statistics, continue to raise awareness of the problems of sexual assault within our country.
