why i think bill cadogan is connected to azgeda and general theory about becca, cadogan and the second dawn (thread)

azgeda is the one clan that isn’t loyal to the flame/commanders and openly defied lexa when she was in command,, we know cadogan was against becca seeing how he burnt her alive. but now i believe that he might’ve done that because he was after the flame...

but why would cadogan need the flame? information. as @Chandsess has pointed out, lexa’s back tattoo seems to mimic the pattern of the planets connected through the anomaly. u/FlashyPersonality on reddit theorised that becca was studying the anomaly to try to save the human race

and she sent lexa a message which she probably couldn’t decipher bc of the flame’s degradation over time. she got it tattooed thinking it was something important to do w the novitiates in her conclave. cadogan was shown to be a religious fanatic but i believe there’s more to it

we know that most of the people in the second dawn were the filthy rich who paid their way to higher levels. but what abt the others? maybe cadogan did believe the anomaly was a sign of god to save them. or maybe he just wanted to appeal to the masses through spirituality.

he may or may not have been living in the bunker during apocalypse 1, but if he wasn’t he came back for some reason only to kill becca. becca distributed nightblood to as many people as possible and wanted to save them through the flame by using it to help understand the anomaly

cadogan might’ve just wanted the world to be occupied by himself and his followers. he wanted to be a “ruler” and with becca around, that seemed less likely. so he eliminated her. she says “you think he’s saving you, but he’s killing you.” but why does she say that?

maybe cadogan saw becca giving people a serum that would let them survive radiation and talking abt how she was going to “help” them with the help of the flame. he didn’t like that because HE wanted to rule the world.

HE let alie out. HE ended the world. chris was probably working for him and just lied to becca abt the poison pill virus. before chris shot himself, he said “i tried to stop her, but i lost control. she got the launch codes. she did it, but it was my fault.”

he “lost control”? this to me implies that someone else (cadogan) was controlling him. and he blames himself bc he let cadogan brainwash him. cadogan made sure that the lone survivors were the ones who worshipped him, but then becca came down with this “miraculous” serum

and they were all religious fanatics, who can blame them? some saw her as the saviour, so they started the grounder religion. but others saw her as the “devil” who tried to steal their god’s thunder. so they went against her and killed her.

i believe that those who followed cadogan became what we know as azgeda. why do i think so? bc after randomly noticing azgeda’s form of murder being “cutting off heads”, it reminded me of the cogs cutting off the heads of the primes to get their mind drives. pic cr: lexaoutsold

who else had a drive in their head? the commanders. i believe that before becca died, she passed on the flame to another nightblood. cadogan went on a mission to find the flame because he wanted to be the one who saved the human race by cracking the anomaly.

now this i’m not sure abt — either he cracked it himself and led all his people into the anomaly, using its time dilating effects to stay immortal OR he did it by getting the flame and putting it in one of his nightblood followers — sheidheda whose face has azgeda-like markings

after all, ontari was an azgeda nightblood. how would that have been possible if there wasn’t an azgeda nightblood before? titus himself said “a natblida from azgeda is bad for us”. yes, that could just be because azgeda is not loyal to the commander, but i doubt that’s the case.

the azgeda symbol also has a spiral in the middle of a hand. the spiral might depict the anomaly and the hand might depict someone holding it in the palm of their hand/controlling it. there may also be a connection to nakara the ice planet and azgeda the ice nation.

now this one’s a reach, but i think the origin of “heda” might be related to this theory as well. sure, heda could be derived from head as in commander OR it could be derived from head as in the head that holds the flame. this one is a little clowny but it might make sense?

i also want to know why this ai was named “the flame”, becca was killed through fire, sanctum’s motto is “through fire we purify sanctum” but azgeda stands out as the “ice nation”, nakara as the “ice planet” and white warpaint which is the opposite of lexa’s black warpaint.

white also represents purity. black represents nightblood and commanders no doubt, so for azgeda perhaps white is more than just “we live in snow” and is actually a symbol. right when roan was going to move into arkadia, ilian set it on fire. more symbolism.

i know everyone jokes around abt lexa’s candle obsession, but y DID they need so many candles in the middle of the day? i think the writers may have wanted us to associate fire with polis and the commanders. hell, even the ascension was shown thru fire at the head of polis tower

and the chess board sheidheda and madi were playing on? the WHITE polis tower pieces had fire at the head n not the black pieces. and who was controlling the white pieces? that’s right, sheidheda. n the flame’s dreamspace was full of fire? one last thing — azgeda royalty’s names.

roan’s grandfather’s name was THEO which quite literally translates to “a god”. this one may be a reach but roan as a word means “a horse that is red, black, or brown with a few white hairs”, emphasis on “few white hairs” probably showing how he deflected from azgeda’s values.

now nia’s is the most important. it‘s thought that nia derives from the “niamh” who was a goddess in irish mythology and a queen in the “land of eternal youth” circling right back to cadogan potentially being immortal. and we know how t100 writers love playing w mythology.

that’s all i have for now and i’m pretty sure i’ve reached thread limit but i just thought these connections were interesting and i’m hoping the writers touch on these in the season. thank u for reading till here if u did i appreciate u mwah
