What's something you can imagine ten years from now that would be a leading indicator that our current moment of crisis was the start of a just transition? Not a policy, and not at large global level, but a picture, maybe based on where you live right now. Make it vivid.
Because in the midst of all this pain, disruption, and confusion, we need to see where we are trying to go. I'll offer a couple of 'pictures' to start...
The young family living next door has built a business that supports a nice life weatherizing people's homes. They have child care, access to good healthcare, and enough time to spare that one of them has built a pizza oven in the back yard & the other is learning to play cello.
When I need groceries I ride my e-bike just a few miles in a protected bike lane to the food hub in my town. With refrigeration and a network of solar powered delivery trucks they aggregate vegetables, meats, & dairy products from dozen of farms.
What else? What would the first inklings of a just transition look like where you live?
