A THREAD:
1. DETERMINE YOUR GOAL: from the beginning understand what it is you’re trying to achieve. These goals will answer the type of content you create and publish on your channel.
2. BRAND YOURSELF: before posting your videos have a banner ready, do your research on thumbnails to make your content stand out. Having this all ready proves that you are investing in ensuring you deliver quality work. Ensure all these remain relevant to your content.
3. DON’T FOCUS ON EQUIPMENT: You don’t need expensive equipment to start a YouTube channel, start with what you have and do your research on how best to produce quality content with your available resources.
4. PLAN: don’t wing it or simply re-do something that works for someone else, the aim should be to deliver, valuable information, fresh content and an experience.
5: DON’T FOCUS ON NUMBERS: as a small growing channel don’t focus on numbers but rather on the people already watching. Instead of numbers worry about real relationships and connections with your audience.
6: AVOID COPYRIGHTS: copyright claims make it harder for your audience to download your content to watch later. Always consider how and when your audience are viewing your content. Use copyright free music or subscribe to a royalty-free music sharing site.
7: AVOID CLICKBAIT: you might get views but not subscribers that will stay and people already subscribed to your channel might not like being taken for a ride. Too much clickbait does affect your channel in the long run.
8. DON’T SPAM: avoid going on other channels to spam for follows, YouTube subscribers enjoy choosing content they consume much like a relationship the courtship stage is very important. People are most likely to watch more than 1 video before choosing to subscribe to you.
9. 80/20 RULE: Focus your channel on the content you want to create. Don’t just focus your 80 making videos for views because when it’s time to share the content that you actually want to create the crowd that is now subscribed is unfamiliar with it / can’t relate and don’t watch
10. AUTHENTICITY: remain true to yourself and what you believe in. Don’t start a channel acting like someone else using lingo you would not use everyday because that’s what’s out there. There’s a niche for you out there.
11. AVOID DISCONNECTION: Try by all means to respond to comments and connect with your audience as they are humans with emotions and acknowledging them is important.
12. COLLABORATE: Working with other creators is a great way to benefit from each other’s audiences and at the same time building connections of of people you can learn from and turn to when you need help.
13: DON’T IGNORE FEEDBACK: Especially when you have established a niche. Use the feedback from your audience as constructive criticism as this may stir you in a direction that improves your way of creating. There will be some nasty comments those u can ignore, comes with the job.
14. BLOCK THE NOISE: Don’t focus on what other youtubers are doing find your style. Don’t think short term, think long term.
15. DON’T BE DISCOURAGED: It’s better to have 1000 highly engaged loyal followers than 10000 who subscribe but never acknowledge you again.
It takes time but can be worth while in the end.
Lastly if you need to learn something the resources are there you just need to look.
