. @GovMikeDeWine spends very little time, if any at all, sharing a medical/statistical defense for reopening the state of Ohio.

In fact, he just said the opposite: "The coronavirus is not gone. It is real and it is deadly."
DeWine did say the new stage in Ohio's coronavirus response is developing a society that can 'learn to live with the virus.'

That's not a medical or statistical defense. That's an economical and financial defense.
One more time: the essence of America's coronavirus response boils down to balancing health/statistics with economics/personal financial perils.

We shut down based on the former. We're reopening based on the latter. The balance, meanwhile, is left to placing "trust" in people.
If we're left with trusting people, one wonders why we ever shut anything down in the first place.
