Theoretical formula of how to leave Twitter.
The first step is to acknowledge that you spend too much time on here and can& #39;t stop coming back. Then you have say to yourself delete the app for a short amount of time (like a week or two).
What people are addicted to may not necessarily be the app but is the constant release of dopamine whilst being on the app.
What you then need to do is find something which you enjoy more than being on Twitter but something you can control, for example for me that was working out(even if it& #39;s a little bit). If there& #39;s nothing you enjoy more than Twitter you have bigger problems.
But obviously you can& #39;t spend an entire day working out. I had uni work to keep me busy but if you don& #39;t have that find something to learn whether it& #39;s a skill or an academic topic or even a language.
In the first few days you& #39;ll find it difficult to stay away as you& #39;ve built up a routine like I had. I was constantly picking up my phone looking for a distraction but try your hardest to resist especially the first 2/3 days.
Create a routine and down allow yourself too much down time where the effects have time to settle. Read a book or research. Just keep yourself busy. Go for a walk/run if you can to help.
Everytime you have an urge to go on Twitter just keep reminding yourself it& #39;s only for a week or two that will make it easier. So in theory this will become a routine and Twitter won& #39;t be a part of it. Eventually you& #39;ll miss it less and won& #39;t have as many urges.
For me after 4 days I almost completely lost every urge to go on Twitter. This may not work for everyone but if you decide to give it a go let me know.
@ammonjuice since you wanted to know.
