Just finished "The Longing For Less: Living with Minimalism" by one of my favorite writers @chaykak ( https://amzn.to/2yZ4PW1 ).">https://amzn.to/2yZ4PW1&q... Sharp and eloquent analysis as always. Very helpful in understanding minimalism as more than just "buy less, but better" and subdued color palettes.
Would& #39;ve hugely benefited from being in a more interactive medium than a static book though. So many of its topics like Donald Judd, Brian Eno, and Philip Glaser would’ve hit much harder paired with visuals or audio.
Regardless, if you’re a fan of his writing (such as his famous AirSpace article: https://www.theverge.com/2016/8/3/12325104/airbnb-aesthetic-global-minimalism-startup-gentrification)">https://www.theverge.com/2016/8/3/... or have ever felt the need to simplify your life in our increasingly cacophonous world, worth a read.
As a side note, I& #39;ve done about half of what’s mentioned in the book, like the sensory deprivation tank and getting my mind blown by the Ryōan-ji rock garden when I lived in Kyoto for a month. Looking forward to completing the rest of minimalism bingo once SIP ends.
