(THREAD) Donald Trump is needlessly taking an unapproved, dangerous drug for a condition he doesn't have—and doing so despite the risk of death and the fact his VP is in self-quarantine. Here are the Top 10 questions Americans need to be asking. I hope you'll read on and RETWEET.
QUESTION 1: "Does Trump have—or did he at any point in 2019 or 2020 have—symptoms of COVID-19 we can’t see?" It's unlikely, but we must remember not every symptom of COVID-19 is conspicuous—and we've no evidence Trump would tell us if he *did* have any potential COVID-19 symptom.
QUESTION 2: "Has Trump tested positive—but asymptomatic—for COVID-19?" We assume Trump is negative for COVID-19, but that's in part because we forget that 25 to 75% of COVID-19 patients are asymptomatic. Again, we've no reason to trust Trump would be honest about it if he had it.
QUESTION 3: "Is Trump also taking the antibiotic azithromycin?" When Trump began pushing hydroxychloroquine in March—causing prescriptions to jump by 46 times—he pushed it as part of drug combination with azithromycin. Is he taking that also, or another hydroxychloroquine add-on?
QUESTION 4: "Is there documentation of Trump's prescription for hydroxychloroquine?" There's significant reason to suspect this is all a political stunt to push back on Rick Bright's whistleblower complaint—or else to please certain donors—and that Trump isn't on the drug at all.
QUESTION 5: "Will we get a full White House briefing on all this—as we usually do with significant changes in Trump's medical treatment?" Whenever Trump is hiding something from America in his medical records—like why he went to Walter Reed in November '19—he blocks any briefing.
QUESTION 6: "Was there discussion at the White House about the national danger this would pose?" Trump's armchair medical advice has already killed people, caused drug shortages, and hampered the work of experts. What meetings preceded Trump's alarming decision to take this drug?
QUESTION 7: "Could this cause drug shortages for those who need hydroxychloroquine?" Hydroxychloroquine—for that matter, azithromycin and any other drug, like famotidine, sometimes discussed in the COVID-19 context—is a drug real people take for actual reasons. Will they suffer?
QUESTION 8: "Why did it take so long for us to find this out?" If Trump was really taking hydroxychloroquine starting two weeks ago or more, *everyone* in the White House knew it was a huge deal politically and as a public health and national security issue. Why did they hide it?
QUESTION 9: "Did Trump talk to donors about this?" Trump has mega-donors worth millions to him—like Bernard Marcus—pushing this drug. What calls did he have with such donors in March, April, or May? This is the tip of the iceberg of what I call the "JCN" COVID-19 bribery scandal.
QUESTION 10: "How does this impact national security?" Trump is a POTUS in bad health taking a drug that can cause heart problems and death—and holds no therapeutic value—to those taking it for no FDA-approved reason. Pence is in quarantine. What are the NatSec implications here?
