FYI per emails: I am sr features editor at the Rumpus & a contributing editor at Catapult. In both positions, I solicit writers & content. I'm always open to writers who have done the work, including research on propriety, & already know I'm not into what's already been said.
You'd be surprised at the number of writers who do not want feedback, and just want the byline. There are plenty of editors who reciprocate that kind of relationship, but I'm not them.

I want better writers in the world. I try to do that in every editorial relationship I form.
Editorial work, at the level I go, is an act of love, really. A form of my activism. I ask questions for your consideration & end everything with, "That ok?"

It's your narrative & I'm invested on making it the best possible telling possible. In the end, though, it's your voice.
So, if you're down with this & you've got a burning essay in you, hit me up.

5 tips on pitching me:
1. I'm not into what's already been said.
2. Be clear.
3. Be clear even & especially in your questions.
4. Say what you need to say.
5. I'm not into what's already been said.
