Okay, I've been keeping quiet about this for a while, but this needs to be said! NO! Nickelodeon did NOT wait for Hillenberg to die to start making Kamp Koral!
I know people are gonna point me to that interview stating he didn't want spin-offs, but people are perfectly capable of changing their minds in that amount of time!
And just because it was announced a few months after he died doesn't mean they literally started making it the second he died! It takes a long time to develop a show, and the show started development while he was alive!
It is okay to not like the show, it is okay to even criticize it, and it is okay to feel like it doesn't follow what SpongeBob stands for. But don't try to paint Nick as cartoonishly evil based on a false narrative because of it!
And one more thing, if you want to point me to Paul Tibbit's tweet specifically to prove me wrong, yes, I know Paul was a good friend of Stephen. I know he was a major part of SpongeBob for years to the point of even running the show for 10 years up to the second movie.
He also has not been involved with the show SINCE the second movie! He is a complete outsider to this, and would not be aware of Stephen having changed his mind!
