This narrative that people being quarantined here should be grateful because they’re lodged in hotels, free of charge, while other countries lodge people in ‘schools, stadiums’ etc is overwashed.

Quarantine should be in humane and safe conditions. Nothing to beat chests about.
If the country’s response strategy includes mandatory quarantine of persons meeting a certain criteria, then that’s what should be provided, within their rights.

It’s a public health response and you can’t expect people to pay for that.

You’re doing them no favour, really.
It’s also sad - and quite telling - that it’s brought up and presented as trophy-worthy each time shortcomings in certain areas are mentioned.

Clearly, deflection is more important than accountability, acceptance of existing gaps, and commitment to better actions to address them
