Compare this to how much the Dravidian movement worked for a century in order to ensure Tamils didn't have to end up this way.

Later on, Kalaignar put Kongu Vellalars in the OBC category in 1973. It helped them tremendously in the years to come.
He also pushed VP Singh to include reservations for OBC castes, and it happened with help from the Mandal commission thus massively benefiting Tamil Nadu.

Imagine if the Dravidian leaders didn't introduce midday meals in schools, and Kamarajar and Kalaignar didn't improvise on them, people wouldn't have sent their kids to school.

All this while resisting New Delhi's assaults on state rights with Dead-body's approval.
