Remember your best Maths Teacher?
My sister found my Y11 Maths Teacher on Facebook so I& #39;ve been chatting with him.
Without his teaching, I have no idea what I would be doing for a living now, he absolutely transformed my perspective of Mathematics and influenced how I teach.

He:
-Took on a class of mathematically disaffected pupils in January of Y11 (we had all failed our mocks spectacularly having been taught by reluctant non specialist since Y10)
-Has since lectured on Maths education at University
- Is still teaching some Maths

(this includes using MS Teams and visualiser during current lockdown)
- Still has a letter I sent him at end of my NQT year
Without his teaching, there& #39;s no way I& #39;d be a Teacher or had done A Levels/Degree.
Whenever I have a tough class, I think back on his lessons.

The difference a great Teacher can make, even in a few months, is phenomenal.
For all the (brilliant ) CPD on cog load / split attention / retrieval etc... there& #39;s so much in building pupils confidence, showing them clear simplicity and elegance of Maths.

He did this with a marker, a whiteboard and SMP books. No visualiser, I remember seeing something I& #39;d previously thought was impossible and being shocked at how straightforward it was.

One thing he said was that he had fond memories of the class and that there was "lots of potential given the opportunity" - that& #39;s our job, to provide the opportunity, as best we can. So many kids just don& #39;t get a good enough opportunity.
