Arya Samaj/Agniveer problem:

Many of the organizations are born with good intentions. Arya Samaj was born to revive the Sanatana Dharma. The foundational philosophy of Arya Samaj is the rejection of every tradition, practice that are not in Vedas. (1/n)
They reject everything not in Vedas as a corruption of the 'original' Hindu dharma. This is fundamentally flawed, making the organization more harmful to Hinduism. (2/n)
Vedas are codified knowledge designed for preservation, they are not practical knowledge. It takes years of hard work to by heart Vedas in proper way, lots of time spent on Vedic sanskrit grammar... It was never meant for everyone. Similarity can be drawn with Mathematics. (3/n)
Mathematics is very important it requires years of hard work and people do it for the sake of it. A normal person won't need to know what the theorems say. What society needs are more practical works, like Gita, that guide people in their life. (4/n)
From a scriptural point of view, Many works such as Gita were actually composed by Veda Vyasa himself. Perhaps it's safe to assume Vyasa understood Vedas better than the Agniveer/Arya Samajis. Rejection of other scriptures because they are not Vedas is flawed. (5/n)
Agniveer/Arya Samaj approach is one of imposition. Culture is a collection of traditions or practices which have help our survival. The basic assumption of those who intend to impose their culture on others is that their practices are superior to others'. (6/n)
Imposition of Veda memorising is idiotic, it's like making everyone learn advanced mathematics when it's actually bad for the development of society. By imposing vedic culture we are assuming vedic culture is superior to the tribal ones. (7/n)
Arguably, one can also make a case that Arya Samaj is trying to mimic Abrahamic religions (anti-idol worship, polytheism,… by selectively quoting just like how Zakir Naik does) in the guise of Hindu revival. (8/n)
Sanatana Dharma existed before the Rgvedic Rishis were born. Many Rshis like Pulastya, Marichi are pre vedic era Rshis (Yeah Yeah I know vedas are eternal blah blah blah but they were still revealed to some Rshi). (9/n)
The proto Hinduism common to everyone in India is the Sati-Shiva one based on Yoga and all. We should allow Brahmins to practice their Veda by hearting and let tribals practice their traditions as long as they don't hurt others. (10/n)
Each tradition has helped the respective groups in their survival and that of the society. We should not destroy them by imposing something completely new. (11/11)
