So @AaronRodgers12 makes this comment about stay at home orders being akin to “house arrest.” Look this is gonna be a thread so get ready. Hey Aaron in what world are you living in? House arrest? Seriously? Not ONE state in the union forced people into their homes. NOT ONE.
How do I know this? Well I’m a postal carrier, I see hundreds of people a day who didn’t and still refuse to abide by the suggestions of state governments. Now in WI it’s a free for all due to the state Supreme Court. No one was forced into their homes.
People are and were free to leave and venture out at any time. The parks were constantly packed even when they were closed. A minority of people here in WI threw a tantrum because they couldn’t go to the bar. Why is this an issue? Well this virus is spread by humans.
Bars spread germs because they are very close quarters and not the cleanest environments. But back to my original point. You weren’t forced to stay home, even though I’m sure your home has every single amenity you could imagine. You and others weren’t forced inside. By ANYONE.
Your other argument that sports brings people together, is somewhat true. But at a time when stadiums can’t be filled because ONE singular person could infect let’s say 162 people in a nightclub. How would that look to 70K in Lambeau Field?
Maybe the quote is taken out of context and you were just talking off the cuff. Maybe the heightened anxiety of my job and everyday life has me on edge because I survived over 500 days at war in Iraq and I’m sure as hell not dying alone in a hospital here, so sports can be on.
The winds have changed when it comes to everything. True colors have been shown and sports are the least of my concerns. Millionaires can say whatever, it doesn’t mean it’s right and it should be called out. Because people will listen to you and act as if this isn’t dangerous.
I’m a Packers fan, all the ups and downs. But this isn’t important Aaron. It’s also close to misinformation to say “house arrest.” The nation was asked to sacrifice and it was honestly a suggestion without any teeth. We barely made it two months.
Two months? And people whined, haircuts, bars, stores. They wouldn’t have survived a week in Iraq, the wouldn’t have survived the Blitz or rationing during WWII. They’re selfish and ungrateful Americans, who’ve taken everyone for granted for the almighty dollar.
So @AaronRodgers12 while you say “house arrest” I say 90k dead in 3 months. As everyday I’m gambling with life for pennies. I’d gladly take the suggested “house arrest” in your multimillion dollar home, while you do my job and worry about ppl who cough or try to touch us.
This pandemic has shown us all what is really important and as a war veteran I know I can sacrifice and do what is asked of me. Not because it’s easy but because it is hard. I care about all of us being safe. Many others do not and have put us all in danger for a free beer.
I shouldn’t say free beer, it’s beer people wanted to pay for. You know who didn’t stop selling beer? Grocery stores and liquor stores, but yeah keep crying about those bars. But the point remains, people should have stayed the fuck out of the bars. Somehow that’s “house arrest.”
The winds of change are coming and things I used to enjoy are being realigned by this metric; what did you do during #COVID19? Where should my money and time be spent? If you’ve shown yourself to only care about the short term dollar then I don’t need you in my life.
The needless suffering did not need to be this way, a federal government that decided to be cruel on purpose. So yeah I’m not at all worried about the NFL or any sports league coming back. This thread ends with this final message...
Wear a mask if you’re going to be around the public, socially distance and donate to food pantry’s. Stay alive, stay healthy and dying alone in a hospital is something we should not have to be subjected to. If you chose not to, then you’re a selfish prick.
