Happy 15th anniversary to Revenge of the Sith today. I have very fond memories of seeing this movie for the first time and sure, it has its flaws, but I still like it quite a bit and there are some amazing moments in it. #StarWars #RevengeoftheSith
I saw Sith at the Village in Westwood (where I saw almost all big movies back then). It’s a single screen theater that holds more than 1000 people. @BrentSimons and I got there around 8am to line up for the midnight show. There were probably around 150-200 people ahead of us.
The line was already nearing the corner (it would eventually loop the block). We were holding spots for around 10 people. Others were doing the same. So as the day went on, the sidewalk would become packed. The people who’d been camping out near the front had backpacks and chairs
Right by us, parked on the street, was a big RV owned by folks who were part of the line. While a couple members of their group would hold their spot, they’d go in and out. Some were sitting up ont the roof on chairs, hanging out.
Suffice to say, while we waited those 16 hours, and our friends began to join us — and everyone around us were joined by their friend — it became full party mode. By the time they let the line in (and we did the crazy rush to grab good seats), there was some insane energy.
Were we primed to be grabbed by the movie? Oh yes. But damn did it play great that night. Order 66?Chillls. And the Obi-Wan vs. Anakin fight, juxtaposed with Yoda vs. Palpatine (!!) was thrilling. Just a really great, super emotional experience. #RevengeoftheSith
Also, I just remembered I was lying at the start of this thread: That was my SECOND time seeing Sith. I saw it at a press screening (also at the Village) earlier that week. Which was cool, but is now totally overshadowed, clearly, by that opening midnight show experience.
