It's clear now that the mayor of New York is going to continue calling out the actions of a small minority of Hasidic Jews and implicating all New York Jews in the process. https://twitter.com/NYCMayor/status/1262509072051470340
It's worth repeating a few points:

1) Most Jews, including various Orthodox communities, have been doing their part to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and have been doing so for weeks earlier than it took the mayor to take the virus seriously.
2) The subset of communities who violate these norms are not on social media. You really have to ask yourself who is the intended audience when the mayor announces he's closing a 'yeshiva' - a word most gentiles don't know without googling.
3) This is not about hurt feelings.

Jews in and around New York, particularly visibly Jewish Orthodox & Hasidic Jews, have been the targets of rising antisemitic violence.

Including several recent deadly attacks.

Singling out Jews is an invitation to more violence.
I did a thread about this the last time the mayor had an ill-advised message to New York Jews. Holds up well for those who are unfamiliar. https://twitter.com/JewishWonk/status/1255536842524557320?s=19
