a thread: why furudate sensei will show ushijima and sakusa's spotlight in the last 2 sets

from the start of first set chapter 380, we saw hinata's improvement in vb and of course we all know that it's not his final spotlight, after that we got a spotlight for nicollas romero which truly amazed everyone bc of his skills being a world class ace

furudate also showed in the previous chapters about how both teams are really good at offense and defense and how everyone is indeed a powerful player

i noticed that furudate made a "face off" pattern based on their positions

the first thing that he planned was the setter vs setter, kageyama vs atsumu and also their backstory and development chapters are also in sequence

kageyama's chap: 387-388
atsumu's chap: 390-391

next thing that was planned was OH vs OH, both bokuto and hoshiumi are opposite hitters

— in chapter 382, there's somehow a face off between bokuto and hoshiumi where he recieved bokuto's serve

bokuto's chapter is 392 and hoshiumi's chapter is 393

furudate sensei also showed us how everyone improved throughout the years and how did they overcome their struggles

first, kageyama from being the king that "rule the court" to a king that can give his hitters the best set

second, atsumu from being a dual-wielder to a tri-wielder that makes him a "monster server", also a setter that has his own technique

third, bokuto from his dejected or emo mode that prevents him to go all out on his games and now he'd overcome it also he's thinking outside the box now

fourth, hoshiumi a player that gets judged because of he lacks height but he proved that he's stronger than those 190cm guys, also his techiniques and spikes are powerful

furudate gave the spotlight of kageyama, atsumu, bokuto and hoshiumi first because he wants us to know how these characters are somehow connected with one another and all of them are capable to overcome their own weaknesses and it will develop as their strength

— now,

this match between msby and adlers are full of rivalries in their positions from the very beginning and, i think the last sets will focus more on sakusa vs ushijima (OH vs OP) before shifting again to hinata

both players are somehow connected since they're both one of the top 3 aces during their highschool days (they didn't gave us the rankings) and there's some rivalry that can be noticed between these two

back in the youth camp, sakusa confronted kageyama by asking tons of questions abt shiratorizawa then komori said that sakusa only wants to know the person who'll be a threat to him in the future and of course he's probably expecting that he'll face ushijima in the tournament

i also saw some posts how sakusa addresses ushijima by calling his first name with a "-kun", he called hum "wakatoshi-kun", probably something happened in the past

out of all these almost 400 chapters we never had a chance to see both of their teams facing each other and never saw ushijima and sakusa on the same court, i think this match would be the perfect time to make it happen

let's not forget that before the match occured ushijima's line: "today, i will be the winner"

and also sakusa's:
"it won't happen again"
"we're coming out on top"

let's not forget this two is the most important lines

this simply implies that the final sets will spun around the two of them bc they're holding out their promise to each other, both of them seeks to win in this match

i'm also thinking that ushijima and sakusa will probably share the whole 4th set and then the 5th set will be hinata's spotlight

ushijima and sakusa also have something in common like they both have the same height (6'4) and the same personality (a calm and collected person)

both of them also has their own weapons, for ushijima it's his left hand while sakusa is his flexible wrists

i also saw @/court's tweet that ushijima's spotlight will be very heartwarming, just like kageyama's backstory that made us all cry

i also think his dad will probably show up bc his dad is the reason why he's using his left hand and he also took some of his dad's encourgement

there's also a huge chance that tendou will also probably show up in ushijima's spotlight bc his role is important to ushijima, they're somehow connected with one another since they are friends and he always stays at ushijima's side

i would love to see him cheering for him

i loved how furudate made sakusa appear on the last part of the spring tournament before the timeskip, this panel is a hint that we'll get to see him in the future

i think furudate didn't focused him back in their highschool days bc there's a purpose

in sakusa's spotlight, i think we'll get a chance to know his backstory and furudate will give us answers regarding to this questions:

— how did he became a germaphobe?
— how did he handle his flexible wrists when he was at a young age?
— when did he started playing vball? (1/2)

— how did he got to itachiyama and became of the top 3 aces?
— why did he consider on going college instead of joining pro after he graduated highschool?

i'm also thinking that some of his relatives and friends besides komori will show up (2/2)
