Everyday we watch McConnell decimate the courts. Plessy V Ferguson (1896) decimated the gains of reconstruction. It took 58 years to undo it de jure. It is taking a lifetime to undo it de facto. It will be the grandkids of millennials who are left to fix this McConnell bullshit.

And I am in grief thinking of all the things we will lose even after that madman is out of office. For African Americans and women and workers, the courts have been a fickle lover, but the wins we’ve had we owe to liberal courts. Without them, the rule of law doesn’t mean shit.

I mean we really owe those wins to movements and struggle. But we also have relied on courts to enshrine our wins into law. And godless lawless Mitch is willing to undo it all to shore up white power and white supremacy. And somehow this one white man still has that much power.

So if ever folks should doubt what we mean when we say white privilege and power and is real, or wonder why many of us have no empathy or desire to understand white male rage, look no further than the singular and destructive power of 45, McConnell, & Barr.

Each of them singularly have devastated the rules and norms of American politics, and together, the words escape me to capture the utterly lawless manner in which they daily shore up the worst most racist iteration of American life.

I’m mostly just doing a brain dump this morning. But suffice it to say, democracies, fragile configurations though they are, shouldn’t turn on the power of any singular man. And those 3 represent the worst of American life.

As a side bar: the one bit of insight that feels true to me about this is that the way most liberal minded folks feel about 45, which is to say, horrified, frightened and devastated, is the way I think most 45 supporters felt about Obama. Weird right? But true I think.

Now it goes without saying that one group of us is correct and the other is wholly incorrect, but wow what a distorted mirror folks have that everything that is true about that horrid man, they actually think was true of 44. Or rather they need it to be true.
