The company makes mock meat products including Comrade Cluck, a chicken substitute, and El Zapatista, a mock chorizo named for the Mexican revolutionary movement. After captive audience meetings and maneuvering from the company, the union effort was soundly defeated in February.
But weeks after a petition for hazard pay that was never submitted was posted online and showed the signatures of those who signed it, the company began firing workers who suspect the real reason was their pro-labor efforts.
. @noevilfoods declined several attempts at an interview but provided comment insisting that they're living their progressive values and doing the best they can for their workers during a tough time for their business.
