I am overwhelmed by the support it has received already. I am grateful. And I am conflicted on how to celebrate a book like this that deals with the pain and lived truth of so many people.
I am proud to have written it. I am glad it is finally in the world. I want people to know about it.
So yes, I want to celebrate it. And I want you to celebrate it.
Here is how I hope you will do that: I hope you will read We Are Not From Here and allow Pulga, Pequeña, and Chico into your heart with so much tenderness and love and care.
I hope you will help me celebrate it by supporting and donating to the organizations listed in the back of the book. To the people out there, who HAVE been out there, organizing, protecting, helping, fighting for migrants’ rights, and doing the work every day.
I hope you will help me celebrate by honoring and supporting the journalists who work tirelessly to reveal hard truths.

I hope you will help me celebrate by honoring the lives of migrants and refugees.

I hope you will help me celebrate by remembering all this when you vote.
I hope. And I hope. And I hope. I think maybe that is one way to celebrate WE ARE NOT FROM HERE. By hoping and asking you to hope. And letting that hope move you to action. ❤️🙏🏽❤️ (End)
