Any kind soul in the EU want to send me the notes that the Commission will inevitably have sent to Member States pointing out all the things wrong with the UK text?
First of note - text on areas like rules of origin, technical regulations, SPS does not appear to follow any previous model I can see. Very optimistic on equivalence and rules of origin, I think BSI leaving European standards
There's a lot of this sort of thing in the UK text... ok, quick comment on reading so far, suggesting this is based on existing EU precedent is utter cobblers.
Similarly on mutual recognition of professional qualifications - this I think is more ambitious than any FTA...
How to annoy the EU. Oh yes, try and find this in other EU Free Trade Agreements...
Ambitious...
Still trying to give up Geographical Indications to make the US trade deal more likely. Rearrange these words. Chance. A. Not.
Not surprisingly this section of the UK's draft EU agreement is strikingly unambitious.
Unsurprisingly weak level playing field provisions.
