Maybe a spicy comment but I actually don’t agree with this. Ideologicially, the Conservatives match the interests of a lot of British Indians and Hindu people far more than Labour does especially in the arenas of foreign policy and islamophobia https://twitter.com/munroebergdorf/status/1262707097952755712
This is where “poc” discourse often collapses a lot of necessary class and cultural analysis. Priti Patel is literally best friends with Modi and likely held in very high esteem amongst Indians here and abroad
Plenty of British Indians support the Modi regime in India and denial of autonomy for Muslim people in Jammu and Kashmir - its part of why Labour struggle so much with attracting Indian/Hindu demographics and why Starmer is now melting on Kashmir
The idea that lots of British Indians would relinquish vested interests in caste, class, capital and Hindu nationalism for the sake of “people of colour solidarity” in the U.K. is actually very laughable
Very relevant commentary on exactly this issue in our political thinking about voting patterns amongst so-called “BAME” demographics here from @stephenkb
