This thread (by me, Chad) is for the men who don't understand why I support "Fuck the patriarchy!"

The short answer: Because patriarchy isn't pro-man -- it's pro-abuse, pro-control, pro-rape, pro-death, pro-violence.

The longer explanation follows.

For context: I'm a big dude. I carry a cane (i.e., a meter-long stick) everywhere. In my younger days, I practiced mixed martial arts (then: shoot fighting). I was a competitive shooter. I had an explosives license for a while. I've got a foot-long beard.

That's the physical.

I've got a PhD in mathematics. A good job. A mortgage-free apartment. A gorgeous wife (>20 years now). My kid graduated university at 16. I was a millionaire before 25.

So why not love the patriarchy?

Because it's violence and cowardice -- you "win" by your willingness to hurt others, to take them out of the game.

You "win" by exerting control over those weaker than you and sniveling subservience (until you can betray them) to those stronger than you.

I find it doubtful true meritocracy can exist. But let's assume it can.

Patriarchy trembles at the thought. Because non-men are just as good at things. A patriarch doesn't want to compete against women for a job. Not because it's beneath him, but because he's scared.

A patriarch doesn't want to risk threats to his "rule". He must oppress the young, the different, the genius, the artist, the iconoclast.

And if you're not at the absolute top of the world -- aren't you tired of people shitting on you?

Just because patriarchy lets you shit on others doesn't mean you're not still being shat upon.

Be brave: Fuck the patriarchy.

You'll be better off without it.

I've left out arguments about decency, fairness, etc. because everyone knows those already. Too many people don't care about those.

I'm appealing to your selfish nature. Because if an appeal to decency were enough, you wouldn't need this thread.
