When to wear #gloves a thread in times of #COVID19
WEAR #GLOVES In healthcare settings, if you are coming into contact with bodily fluids or touching un-intact skin. If you are entering an isolation room and patients are on precautions. If you are performing a procedure where you will be coming into contact with bodily fluids.
DON'T WEAR #gloves : in public on the street/park/outdoor areas, in grocery stores, in the car.
Gloves are NOT a substitute for #handhygiene , they will act as vectors of transmissions from your door handles, cars, grocery carts, food that you are touching, and then your face or your mask that you may end up touching.
#IPC guidance would recommend that instead persons do hand hygiene before entering a store or public building, touch what they need to, avoid touching your face or mask with your (contaminated) hands, and then do hand hygiene again on the way out or once you get home
and like masks, there are specific ways health workers are taught to put on and remove gloves. We recommend the glove to glove, skin to skin method so that you are not contaminating your hands with the outer layer of the gloves.
And to end this thread, PLEASE dispose of gloves in waste bins, not on the street, not on the bus, not in the stores.

Thank you.
