I want to talk about guilt today. There's a good chance you are feeling it. Whoever we were before the pandemic, we are no longer that person. We need to get comfortable with that. A thread

(1) If your productivity has dropped, those around you know you from before the pandemic. They know your work ethic. They know any drop in output is because there's a pandemic on. Let

(2) Understand "golden hours" - no-one truly works 9-5 every day. When you are in the office there is distraction, coffee breaks and fly-ins. In reality we work on average, productively around 3 hours a day. https://www.businessinsider.com/8-hour-workday-may-be-5-hours-too-long-research-suggests-2017-9 Let

(3) Is someone you work with really working better than you right now? Is that something you are assuming based on output? Maybe they are struggling too? For the majority of us, despite the pandemic we are doing great. Stop comparing yourself. Let

of
the
guilt

(4) If people are doing 'better' - have you considered privilege? You might not have access to resources like some others, or may have to be home schooling whilst #WFH and that is more than okay. It's out of your control. Let
go
of
that
guilt

(5) We often hold ourselves to higher standards than we would hold others to. Are you being fair to yourself? Perhaps you should cut yourself some slack? Let

guilt

Are you trying your best? Maybe enough is good enough?
What I do know is that this pandemic is tough enough, without us being hard on ourselves. Be kind to yourself - and let go of the guilt. #KindnessMatters #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek2020
